Gambhir Losing KKR CLT20 Qualifiers

Gautam Gambhir, who suffered a concussion in the last test against England, will miss Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Twenty20 Champions League qualifiers on September 19 and 21

Gambhir, who is captain of KKR, however, are likely to participate in the phase of the league. In his absence, the South African Jacques Kallis leads the side.

Gambhir had fallen on his head while running backwards to take a catch to mid-Kevin Pietersen on the second day of the test cricket final at the Oval. He suffered a concussion and was complaining of blurred vision.

"Gautam is a leading consulting neurologist in New Delhi after his return from England. Even if the doctor is satisfied with the development of Gautam has done, it is advisable to begin the physical training to achieve progressively the rhythm game," said KKR publication.

"His vision is that September 19th is too early to make a full recovery for him. However, subject to qualify for the championship of KKR and Gautam CLT20 reach full fitness, is likely to participate in the league phase" .

KKR CEO, Venky Mysore, said the decision to play is Gambhir and your doctor and hoped it would be a quick return to the game.
